Who we help

Our paediatric physiotherapists support babies with a range of developmental and musculoskeletal concerns, including:

  • Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip, or DDH

  • Torticollis, including babies who prefer turning their head one way

  • Flat head shape, plagiocephaly or head shape concerns

  • Delayed or difficult rolling

  • Delays with sitting, crawling or pulling to stand

  • Delayed walking or concerns about early walking patterns

  • Movement asymmetries, such as only reaching, rolling or pivoting to one side

  • Low muscle tone, stiffness or concerns about strength

  • Concerns around positioning, play, tummy time and movement opportunities

  • Parent education and guidance around what to expect next

You don’t need to know exactly what is going on before booking an appointment. If something feels “not quite right”, or you would simply like a second opinion, we’re very happy to help.

How we help

At The Hills Physio, our baby appointments are calm, gentle and family-centred.

We start by listening to your concerns and getting to know your baby how they move, how they play, what they enjoy, what they find tricky, and what your days at home actually look like.

From there, we complete a thorough assessment of your baby’s movement, strength, posture, symmetry and development. For babies with specific concerns such as DDH, torticollis or head shape changes, we assess these areas in more detail and explain what we are looking for along the way.

Treatment is always practical and realistic. Depending on your baby’s needs, this may include:

  • Gentle hands-on treatment

  • Play-based developmental activities

  • Positioning advice

  • Tummy time strategies

  • Home exercises that fit into your usual routine

  • Casting or bracing

  • Guidance around equipment, carriers, seating or footwear

  • Ongoing support as your baby grows and develops

We know parents are already doing a lot. Our goal is not to give you a long list of complicated exercises that feel impossible to fit into your day. Instead, we help you understand what your baby needs and show you simple ways to support them during everyday moments on the floor, during play, nappy changes, feeding, carrying and cuddles.

Most importantly, we work with you. You know your baby best, and our role is to combine your knowledge with our clinical experience so we can create a plan that feels achievable, meaningful and right for your family.
